iLoveDesigner’s Spring/Summer 2017 Collection
For iLoveDesigner’s Spring/Summer 17 campaign, we flew to the beautiful Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat in Ipoh, Perak Darul Makmur, Malaysia to capture the essence of the collection. In case you missed our last post on this magnificent country and the exquisite resort (both of which need to be on your bucket list), you can find it here.
This season’s works of art draw inspiration from graphic shapes and natural and artificial stones, large-linked chains, elaborate earrings, bold statement necklaces, and sculptural and expressive handbags. iLoveDesigner offers you just a small selection of the trends to covet this coming season, making them absolute must-haves for your next holiday.
Less is More
Say goodbye to layers and hello to statement pieces. Think individuality versus bling; symmetry versus asymmetry. Leading this trend is jewelry designer, AKALIS. Minimal yet elegant, the AKALIS engravable single disc gold pendant necklace is a flawless interpretation of exceptional quality, timelessness and everyday wear. Choose to have it individualized with personal engravings or keep it simple in its original form. Available in silver and rose gold, AKALIS does earrings and bracelets to match.
Cuffs are the new way to bracelets, and POTC Jewellery created a visually alluring one with their gold-plated openwork cuff. Featuring a floral motif which elegantly graces the wrist, this cuff is ornate as much as it is whimsical and delicate.
Couture and Costume
Sophistication and grace make a comeback. The Nocturne ‘Ryu’ Pendant necklace is an ultra-feminine piece embracing artistry, vibrant colour and an edgy dose of glamour. Combining geometric shapes and the most stunning turquoise gemstone you will ever lay eyes on, this is the perfect piece to make a statement on its own, or, choose to make it even more chic by pairing it with the Nocturne ‘Ryu’ earring – a surprisingly lightweight earring which features a cascading waterfall of delicate discs. Combined you have the ultimate in harmony.
Ghanian-Nigerian born Anita Quansah’s Enya earrings are the epitome of ultra-feminine, shoulder-grazing style. Combining velvet baubles mixed with glass beads in amethyst and cherry red, this elegant model gracefully falls to the collar bone and is the definitive ear embellishment.
A Nod to Africa
We note a festive tribal theme with the ever-important accessory, the handbag, and Ethnique PH do this perfectly with their fun and bright dedication to colour. The ‘Zamal’ straw clutch features unusual patterns in a wonderful assortment of the most fashionable hues this season – coral, aquamarine, yellow, purple and pink. Their terrifically tactile handwoven ‘Goa’ geometric rug pouch clutch features a detachable brass chain strap accented by a handmade tassel.
Taking inspiration from art, the Nocturne Regina choker is a piece that takes centre-stage, and with a twist. Combining a deep blue thread interweaving a gold-tone chain and accented with jewels throughout, it is best worn on its own to let its artistic and futuristic edge shine through.
Now you too can wear a masterpiece on your arm with Nita Suri’s Gaudi Pilo black soft calf leather handbag. Inspired by Gaudi masterpieces, this bag is simple, highly wearable and makes a bold impression.
This season, we see many interesting, impactful and structured combinations in jewellery and accessories. From east meets west influences, to feathers, femininity, and in-your-face edge, there is a fusion of organic materials combined with modernity.
